Reading Buddies
Making Cubes
This week in math, we have been learning all about geometry, including solid shapes. On Thursday, we tried to make cubes using toothpicks and marshmallows. Check out a couple of our kiddos making their cubes.
Here's Malachi. He made his cube without any help from the teacher. And it only took him a couple minutes to figure it out!
Here's Malachi again with his finished product.
(By the way, I love the comments you can hear in the background. Listen closely. Jacob says, "It's hard to make!" and Trinton is behind Malachi cuing him on what to say. Malachi says, "I made it out of toothpicks, marshmallows, and..." Trinton whispers, "And that's it." And Malachi echoes, "And that's it." So cute.)
Here's Mitchell and his cube.

Needs and Wants
This week in Social Studies, we have been learning about different aspects of Economics. After talking specifically about "needs and wants", the students made a chart where they drew and labeled 3 human needs and 3 human wants. Below, you can watch some of our students explain their posters. These students did a super job!

Magnets!
This week we are learning all about magnets. Today we learned about magnetic poles. We learned that "opposites attract" (north-south) and like poles repel (north-north or south-south). Here is Miles leading one of our experiments...
Check back soon for some additional videos from today's science lesson. (This one took a long time to load and I ran out of time to upload the others.)
