Over the last three weeks, we became totally immersed in Mo Willems' books, including his Pigeon, Piggie & Gerald, and Knuffle Bunny series. We laughed and fell in love with Mo's characters. The students begged for me to read aloud more Mo books each day and our many Mo books in our classroom library were continuously checked out over the course of those three weeks. We watched some YouTube videos in class to learn more about Mo and be exposed to more of his books. Click on the links below to check out these videos:

Don't Let the Pigeon Write Book!
Last week and this week, we have been fully immersed in writing our very own pigeon books inspired by the Mo Willems pigeon series. Here is one of our reading groups working on their books. These are sure to be Caldecott award winners someday.
Great Poetry Race
Ashton was last week's great poetry race winner with the most signatures. He got the most signatures by going to a local nursing home to read to the residents there. He not only got tons of practice with reading but he also did a service to our community. Way to go, Ashton!

Toys, Toys, Toys!
A toy maker visited us this week and compared and contrasted old and new toys. He showed us lots of toys from the past and even let us try everything out! He sent each of us home with our very own toy.
From Past to Present
Last week, we learned about how technology, toys, transportation, and communication has changed over time. Here's Ryan learning how to use an old-fashioned telephone.
