Oobleck!

Today, we learned about states of matter (solids and liquids, in particular). We read Dr. Seuss' Bartholomew and the Oobleck and then we made our very own Oobleck! When you touch it, it feels hard like a solid. But you can pour it like a liquid.

If you would like to make Oobleck at home, it is so easy!

Just mix a couple boxes of cornstarch with water and green food dye. It will be very difficult to stir, but keep mixing it until it looks like a liquid but feels like a solid.

Goodbye, Testing Buddies!

We had one last get-together with our 3rd grade testing buddies today. The 3rd graders made cards for us and we gave them drawings that we made of pigeons (we learned how to draw the pigeon character from the Mo Willems books earlier that day). Mrs. Crain brought popsicles for all of us. We will miss our 3rd grade buddies!

Don't Let the Pigeon...

On Wednesday, we read three Mo Willems' book from the pigeon series. We enjoyed Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late, and The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog. After reading these hilarious books, we learned how to draw the pigeon! Here we are working on our pigeon drawings.

After learning how to draw the pigeon, we wrote and illustrated our own pigeon stories. Some of our stories included Don't Let the Pigeon Ride the Lawn Mower, Don't Let the Pigeon Go to School, Don't Let the Pigeon Fly a Jet, Don't Let the Pigeon Ride the Elavator, and many more! I think we may have some future authors & illustrators in our class!

Kindergarten Graduates

Check out this bunch of soon-to-be-first-graders!

Don't forget...

Kindergarten graduation is Friday, May 27 @ 8:15. Join us in our room immediately following graduation to watch a 15 minute video that includes tons of pictures taken throughout the year in our classroom. Your child will get his/her own copy of the DVD to take home, along with another small graduation gift. Refreshments will be provided in the cafeteria for you to enjoy with your child immediately following the 15 minute video in Mrs. Morgan's classroom. See you there!

Not A Box

In our reading class, we read Antoinette Portis' book, Not A Box. You can WATCH the story by clicking the link below:

This story is about a little bunny who uses his imagination to turn an ordinary box into all kinds of fun things.

We decided to use our imaginations to create our own "Not-A-Boxes" on the last day of our reading class.
