100th Day of School

We celebrated the 100th day of school on January 27. We did lots and lots of activities with the number 100.

Below, are pictures of our class guessing how far down the hallway Mrs. Morgan could walk in 100 steps. We put our names on post-it notes, took turns walking down the hallway, and placed the post-its where we thought 100 steps would end. Then we tested our predictions. As Mrs. Morgan walked down the hallway, we counted each step until she reached 100 steps!

Jacob's post-it note was just a few feet from where Mrs. Morgan's 100 steps ended! He had the closest guess. Way to go, Jacob!!!

We also saw how many times we could write our name in 100 seconds.

Out of the whole class, Abbey wrote her name the most in 100 seconds!

African American Masks

Recently in art class, Mr. Woodward taught us about African-American culture and we made masks.

I have a dream...

The week of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday, we learned all about Dr. King. We read several books about him as well as books about Ruby Bridges and Jackie Robinson. After learning about Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech, we wrote about our dreams in our journals. We then copied these dreams onto the big "DREAM" posters that the fifth grade classes made. The entire school participated in this project. We were glad to be a part of it. Our Kindergartners made me so proud with their dreams.

Happy Birthday, Mason!

Letter Fun with Play-Doh - January 6

Blake, Jacob, and Patricia practiced the letters Ee and Yy by making them with Play-Doh.

I am sorry I have been horrible about posting pictures on our classroom blog lately! We have been extra busy lately at the Morgan household preparing for Baby Morgan. Parents, if you do not already know, I am expecting my first child in just a few short weeks. Mrs. Hatchett, the substitute who will be covering my leave, is a former Kindergarten teacher and I am confident that she will be a great asset to our classroom while I am gone. Lesson plans will be left for her as well as weekly newsletters and "I Can" statements. So expect to continue to receive these each Friday. I will be returning to our classroom sometime in mid-April. If you have any questions or concerns prior to my leave, as always, please let me know. If you have any while I am gone, feel free to contact Mrs. Hatchett (she will have access to my email) or Mrs. Wyatt. Thank you!
