Butterfly Release

Last Friday, Mrs. Genelle's class butterflies came out of their chrysalises. Mrs. Genelle's preschoolers don't come to school on Fridays, and she knew that she couldn't keep the butterflies in their crate over the entire weekend. So Mrs. Genelle was nice enough to let our class release the butterflies. We were so happy that she shared this special day with us!
We were able to release two beautiful monarch butterflies. Check out our pictures and videos below.
The second butterfly didn't seem to want to leave us. So we put him in a tree and let him leave on his own terms. Before we went back to our classroom, we each got a picture with our new friend.

This video shows our second butterfly who did not want to fly away. We watched him for awhile before putting him in the tree, shown above.

The first butterfly waited FOREVER before finally flying off. After waiting and waiting and WAITING, I finally turned off my camera. But of course, as soon as I turned it off, the butterfly took off. I tried to catch the butterfly flying off, and if you watch carefully, you can see him in the distance at the very end of the video.
